Research & Intervention
About RUIZIA
Ruizia is a research and intervention organisation working towards the sustainability of island systems. Through a complex and multidisciplinary approach, Ruizia produces knowledge and evidence-based tools for action focusing on:
- the performance and internationalisation of regional Research & Innovation (R&I) systems
- the dynamics of island socio-ecosystems
- colonial and post-colonial island economic systems
Why Ruizia?
Ruizia is named after Ruizia cordata, a small tree endemic to La Réunion. In the 1970s, only three individuals remained in the wild. Thanks to several breeding and reintroduction programmes, the species has since been reintroduced into natural environments and private gardens.
For us, as La Réunion Islanders, the Bois de Senteur Blanc is a truly magical tree.
